“State” refers to State Insurance Brokers and all its branch offices.
“Personal information” refers to any information which relates directly or indirectly to you and/or your transactions with us. This information includes your name, address, occupation, contact details, the details of your account(s)/transaction(s), the type of products and/or services subscribed to and such other necessary information regarding yourself and your transaction(s) with us. For the avoidance of doubt, please note that this Privacy Notice is applicable only if you are an individual.
The type of personal information we collect
In order for us to serve you efficiently with your inquiries and/or to generally provide you with the right solutions and our services, we may need to and/or may be required to collect, record, hold, use, disclose and store (collectively “process”) your personal information, including but not limited to:
- personal details to establish your identity and background; name, contact details, race, date of birth, gender, marital status, level of education etc.
- personal information to establish your financial standing, employment details, criminal convictions, creditworthiness and/or suitability for any of our products/services applied for;

- from our analysis of the way you purchase your insurance solutions with us, and from the payments you make for the services and solutions we provide to you;
- from third parties connected with you, such as employers, security providers, financial institutions, credit organizations, motor vehicle and driver licensing authorities, subject to your prior consent;
- from such other sources in respect of which you have given your consent to them disclosing information relating to you and/or where they are not otherwise restricted; and/or
- information received from insurance claims or other documents.
By providing your personal information to enable us to respond to your request for solutions or services, you consent to our processing, using and disclosing this information to appropriate third parties for the purposes outlined in this Policy.
How We Use Your Personal Information
We may use your personal information for purposes which include the following:
- to assess your application(s) / request(s) for our services;
- to manage and maintain your account(s) and facility(ies) with us;
- to better manage our business and your relationship with us;
- to better understand your current and future insurance risks and needs;
- to update, consolidate and improve the accuracy of our records;
- to verify your financial standing through credit reference/reporting checks;
- to provide you with information on our and third-party solutions, services and offers which may be of interest to you;

- to respond to your enquiries and complaints and to generally resolve disputes;
- to produce data, reports and statistics which have been aggregated in a way that ensures your anonymity

- to conduct anti-money laundering checks; for crime detection and investigation, prevention & prosecution; comply with any sanction requirements; and/or
- for any other purpose that is required or permitted by any law, regulations, guidelines and/or relevant regulatory authorities.
Please be assured that we will ask for your consent before using your personal information for a purpose other than those that are set out in this Privacy Policy and in the privacy terms in your agreement(s).
Disclosure of Your Personal Information
Your personal information will be kept confidential; however, as a part of providing our services and the management and/or operation of the same and for the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy in relation to our use of your personal information, you consent and authorise us to disclose this information to:
- companies and persons that act as our agents, affiliates, strategic business partners, service providers, lawyers, professional advisers and the employees, directors and officers of all parties mentioned above;
- companies and/or organizations that assist us in processing and/or otherwise fulfilling transactions that you have requested;
- companies and/or organisations that provide services to us in delivering or communicating information about our products and services to you;
- any person you have designated as authorized to give instructions on your behalf;

We will treat your personal information as private and confidential and will not disclose your information to anyone outside State except:
- where you have given permission;
- where we are required or permitted to do so by law;
- where required or authorized by any order of court, tribunal or authority, whether governmental or quasi-governmental with jurisdiction over State;
- where we may transfer rights and obligations pursuant to our agreement(s) with you; and/or
- where we are required to meet our obligations to any relevant regulatory authority (whether in or outside Malaysia).
Security and Retention of Your Personal Information
Information is our asset. We place great importance to ensure the security of your personal information. We regularly review and implement up-to-date technical and organizational security measures when processing your personal information.
State will retain your personal information in compliance with this Privacy Policy and/or the terms and conditions of your agreement with State for the duration of your relationship with us, or as necessary to perform our obligations to you or as required by applicable law and State’s policies in relation to data retention.
Your Rights to Access and Correct Your Personal Information
You have the right to access and correct your personal information. Where you wish to have access to your personal data in our possession for updates or correction, you may submit a request directly to your account servicing manager or contact us at the address, telephone number, or e-mail provided at the end of this Privacy Policy.
We will use reasonable efforts to comply with your request to access or correct your personal information within 14 working days of receiving your request.
Revisions to Privacy Notice
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. Notice of such revision will be given on State’s website and/or by such other means of communication deemed suitable by State.
